The Hard Bitten Chloe Neill, and Sookie Stackhouse
Hey All, So, Tuesday the 3rd was a big release day, I’m a bit behind. Sorry about that. The new Sookie Stackhouse book came out (Charlaine Harris) and Hard Bitten came out (Chloe Neill). I own both. I haven’t started either yet, which if you knew me at all, is odd. I’m generally chomping at the bit and crack open new releases at daybreak on release day, but I’m hesitant with these two.
I’ve been reading and hearing outrage on behalf of Merit, and fans are baring pitchforks at Ms. Neill. That alone bodes ill. The last book Twice Bitten had me so freaking mad at Ethan Sullivan. To hear it told, this one is way worse. Oh Joy. I guess the good news is that it’s not as bad a cliffhanger as Karen Moning’s “Dreamfever”, but could be on par with the cliffhanger of “Changes” By Jim Butcher. Greeeeat.
I own these two books, and haven’t even started them. The last Charlaine Harris book Dead in the Family was such a huge disappointment. Having said that, the reviews thus far for Dead Reckoning have been slightly better, but I can’t help but feel that Ms. Harris is being influenced by the rabid fan base of True Blood picketing for Bill and Sookie. Can I just say that If Bill and Sookie end up together, I will be right pissed, and will never read another Harris novel again! For reals, I won’t. I swear it!
I should really just crack them open and begin reading, despite reservations to do so. I really hate cliffhangers, as you can tell if you read any of my reviews that end in cliffhangers. I don’t understand why authors and publishers are so gung ho about them. Do they sit around the tables and brainstorm ways to torture their bread and butter? If I’ve purchased book two, three, four or twenty, then I am OBVIOUSLY invested in the darn series you are writing/publishing, therefore you can almost guarantee that I will buy the next one, so why torture me? Is your life that boring you feel the need to torture others for an entire year? UGH!.
Ok Off to read, reviews to follow, look forward to rants and swears, I have a feeling they are coming.
