Bite Me

Young Adult Vampire Hunter

A Fictionwise Fantasy Bestseller

An edgy book for teens that spans the gap between YA and adult fiction. Life after high school is tough enough without having to go 15 rounds with your inner demon. Val Shapiro is just your ordinary, part-demon, teenaged vampire hunter with a Texas drawl. And a pet hell hound named Fang. Soon enough she finds herself deep in the underbelly of the city, discovering the secrets of the Demon Underground and fighting to save those she loves. Whether they love her back or not.

This was an interesting mix of young adult on the verge of adulthood. On the whole, I enjoyed the story. Soon to be 18 year old Val {Valentine} Shapiro is a vampire hunter. She hunts vampires to slate her half-demon side {whom she named Lola}Val is a lust demon. Succubus. She has no experience with the lust aspect, being a virgin and all. The only thing she knows how to do in order to combat the prowling she feels is to hunt vampires to slate the desire coiling inside herself. on her 18th birthday her mom kicks her out, siting that she is a bad influence on her 16 year old fully human sister. Big fight ensues, lots of hurt feelings, and some deep thought needed. Jobless, homeless and without anyone to turn to, she asks Dan Sullivan for help. Dan is a member of the police task force who deals with the supernatural.

I loved Val’s snarky, and her “can’t hold me down” attitude. I took issue with her at the end of the novel where she does do something stupid, but it turns out all right in the end {of course lol}

Can’t go on in this review without mentioning the dog. I would love a dog like Fang. Their mind talking was cute and funny.

Overall, I felt the story was rushed, and we could have used some more insight into Dan, and also Val and the secondary characters. However, for the amount of pages, the story was well done.

Plus, it was free =)(
